A Nice Day

Today was a nice day. The entire family came over to have dinner in honor of my Mom's birthday. We had roast beef, potatos, stuffing, peans, corn, baked beans, rolls, um..seemed like there was something else but I can't remember. I wish I would have thought to take a picture of all of the yummy food.

The food was really an afterthought. The real meat and potatos was the family being together. I love looking around and seeing my family together, laughing, talking about growing up. I only hope that one of my neices, nephews, or my cousins will take the ropes of family get togethers when we are old and can't do it anymore.

Until then, I'm happy to hostess. I promise Mom, I'll have a big house someday and everyone will have a chair and a kitchen big enough where we won't rub butts when we cook :)

Shortensweet wore her feet down to numb stumps doing all that shopping and cooking, but the pleasure it gave so many people had to feel good...like she told me, when people stay long after they say they should be going, it tells you they are enjoying themselves. Trophy Wife made 2 delicious cakes and as usual the kids were adorable. Bunnyjo came with new man in tow, with his beautiful daughter, and they all looked glad to be together and we really enjoyed their being here. All in all it was a day to bask in the glow of having family around to enjoy...all my sibs, kids, and grands were here, who could ask for more...the only thing that could make it better would be if Mom and Jim could be here, but hopefully that will happen this summer. As for getting older, if it is this great, bring it. Oh, plus I won at Balderdash even though I tried not to. HEY>..I hope they didn't let me win because it was my birthday..................nah

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM! And a good time was had by all! It was a wooooonderful get together and I could tell everyone was really enjoying themselves in spite of the close encounters everywhere you went. The food was spectacular and I could tell: mom was immensely happy! Good job, sistah!!!!

Now, Jamie, let me tell you! You sure made a good impression! Chris, who is a notoriously fussy eater, really enjoyed the food and said several times with something like awe in his voice, "The food was *really* good. You're sister did a good job!" He also said you have beautiful eyes. He notices stuff like that. He really enjoyed himself, and I know he was vastly relieved - he's actually quite shy, so being able to be there and enjoy everyone's company without being required to work the room or be on the spot to answer nosy questions was a huge relief to him. He didn't want me to say anything yesterday, but he was quite ill and was in terrible pain. But it meant a lot to him to be there and he was sooo concerned about making a bad impression. Bless his heart.

Happy Belated Birthday to Vi!!

I am glad you all still get together. It is so nice to be surrounded by a loving family. My family(mom's side)always got together for Thanksgiving. It's a shame we can no longer do this. My cousin and I tried it just doesn't work out. I do however get together with my siter, brother folks, neice, and signifigant others for holidays. Keep enjoying your family.

Jamie congrats at what sounded like a well made meal and being a great hostess.

thank you for a very special blog post...I know it was a great time for all and especially that you could celebrate the mamas birthday. She is always there for everyone else so its only natural you would want to make her the center of attention. I am also sorry we were not there to enjoy...however your posts were so neat I felt like I was there...thank you again....

Mom: I'm glad you enjoyed yourself so much. That's the best gift I could have given you.

Bunny: Chris seems like he's wonderful. I got such a kick of seeing you do little things for me. It tells me he must be something special. Him not feeling good and still coming says a lot of the type of person he is. He could have begged off. I'm glad that he didn't. I know I'm looking forward to getting to know him. I like anyone who thinks I'm a good cook and thinks I have nice eyes :)

Roo: Who would have thought, that things we dreaded as kids, we want to carry it on ourselves? I'm a dork like that.

Grandma: We sure did miss you yesterday. We really are blessed to have a family that gets a long so well, and a family that really does enjoy each other. :)
